The Observatory Improvement District (OBSID) is an established Special Rating Area (SRA) and provides top up services to the City of Cape Town. In addition, OBSID has an additional focus on special projects, including public spaces and heritage.
We commissioned a project, “Telling the Story of Observatory through heritage and memorialisation”, to capture the diverse history and communities within the Observatory area. This first phase of the project provided us with a richly detailed written report.
As we see it, the next phase of the project would be the summarisation and repackaging of this report into a user-friendly, attractive and interactive electronic resource, in order for the information to be translated into future actions…
