REPORT on PEPPER TREE SQUARE CAR PARK

from DeVos Rabie – We have been engaging with the Cape Town City Council since March 2018 in discussions relating to the lease of the car park.

In February 2019 the renewal of the lease was approved by the council at the reduced rate of  R 6 900.00 that we proposed. The account reflected a balance relating to the “overcharging” of rentals which the OCA is disputing which amounts to R185 880.

We have been appealing for the write off of these charges since March 2018, with numerous reminders (in meetings and emails) – the last email reply on 28/5/2019stated: “We are in the process of attempting to resolve this matter.”

Amy Meyer from the city’s Directorate: Assets & Facilities Management and Raafiq Kolia from the Leasing Section were our points of contact.
Raafiq Kolia was transferred to another department in February 2019.
When I sent a follow-up email to Amy Meyer on 18/6/2019, there was an automatic reply
– She is no longer working for the city.
Deon Franken is the new person who will deal with outstanding matters from 1 July 2019.

It is very frustrating – let’s hope we do not have to start from scratch!

Regards,
DeVos Rabie
