Thank you for the feedback
Obslife, Feb 2011
THE OBSID received a largely positive response from the Observatory community on the comment cards carried in the December edition of ObsLife.
“Keep up the good work” was a constant refrain, while many residents asked for more of the same - increased safety patrols and cleaning effort, which have been the main thrust of the OBSID’s work up till now.
But in response to the question of what the OBSID should add to its priorities for improving Observatory, many of the respondents mentioned traffic issues, parking as well as moving traffic violations. This coincides with recent moves by the OBSID to focus on traffic problems, which includes heavy trucks snarling up traffic and parking problems caused by the daily influx of visitors to Observatory.

Why it does not YET look better
The Hartleyvale Sports fields have had an overhaul of the building on the inside - in the previous financial year. In the current financial year there will be repairs to the outside of the building also – improving the look of the building from the Liesbeek Parkway / Station Road junction.

OBSID celebrates Mandela day
6 Jul 2011
Are you an Observatorian who’s keen to get involved
in Mandela day? OBSID is hosting projects on
Sunday & Monday (17 & 18 July)!
Please get in contact if you're planning on giving your 67 Minutes and let's do it in Obs!

OBSID'S FOUR PROJECTS:
1) Make a list of Infrastructure around your house that requires repair such as; potholes, pavements, drains, lamp poles, street sign. You can do this on your own time - Sunday or Monday and drop off or email the photos and/notes to OBSID during the week!
2) Work on the OBSID gardens; spreading vegetation from your garden into ours. Let us know if you have any plants you'd like to share and we'll let you know where you can earth them!
3) Assist in recruitment for the Observatory neighbourhood watch (ONW); ask your neighbour, ask a friend! Ask a few folks to sign up or better yet - sign up yourself! The more ears and eyes the less crime! Membership is free and having open communications is key!
